Hey everyone! I'm back with a quick product review. Today we're looking at the Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush. I believe in good skincare, but I also don't like investing a ton of time or effort into it. I'm a lazy girl at heart and struggle with sticking to a routine. I've been eyeing a Clarisonic for years, but I'm hesitant to drop the money because HELLO, I can't commit to soap and water every night when the temptation of makeup wipes are sitting right there on my counter. When I became a consultant for Mary Kay, this is immediately one of the things I knew I wanted to try. I've been using it on and off for a few weeks and I'm ready to drop my two cents.
First, the facts. The brush retails for $50 and comes with two brush heads and the required batteries. Here is what Mary Kay has to say about it...
"This lightweight, two-speed power brush gently massages as it thoroughly cleans skin, removing residue, dirt and makeup in seconds.
- Removes makeup 85% better than cleansing by hand.*
- Boosts the absorption of your next skin care step.
- Starts improving skin’s appearance immediately.
- Helps polish away the look of past skin damage for a more even-looking complexion.
- Softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles."
Here's what I have to say. I think the main benefit of this brush is a better clean. I absolutely notice a difference when I use this brush over when I wash normally. My skin feels GREAT when I give it a good cleaning followed quickly by moisturizer. The secondary benefit would be gentle exfoliation of the skin. The brush sloughs off dry skin, which is especially a problem at this time of year! Two warnings... start gently on the lower setting and never use the brush with any other exfoliating product, like a scrub. Ouch! No bueno. I like using it with the Mary Kay Timewise 3 in 1 Cleanser or Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.
It's recommended that you use the brush twice a day, but I've been using it closer to once a day. I did notice the first time I used it, it irritated my cheeks a bit and I had a little bit of flaky skin... but remember, an adjustment period is needed for any new skincare. The flakes are totally gone and I realized that I needed to use the lower speed setting on my cheeks and not press so hard. I love keeping it in a little basket on the counter with all my other skincare stuff. Having it all in one place really motivates me to stick to my routine! The last couple weeks have paid off because I used tinted moisturizer today instead of foundation and didn't hate it.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this as a starter cleansing brush. My skin is cleaner and clearer than it's been since winter started. Order before 3/10/17 and I'll even cover your tax and shipping. Let me know if you want to give it a try!
